    The Rowlett City Council approved a zoning change request to allow a housing development to continue with its plans to build a single family residential neighborhood in the Northshore area of the city.     For the second year in a row, the Lake Pointe Wound Care Center has received the coveted Robert A. Warriner III, M.D. Center of Excellence Award.   • Lowering costs: Council weighs creating acute-care clinic for employees
    The city of Rowlett has been looking for the last several years at ways to reduce its health care liability without diminishing the quality of care. The city has saved almost $1.7 million since it became a partial self-insurance entity in 2011. The city made the transition to partial self-insurance to try and gain control over some of the increasing costs of health care.

    The city of Rowlett has been named a Playful City USA by KaBOOM!. The city first received the designation in 2010 and has managed to maintain it since then. Rowlett joins 217 municipalities across the nation to be named a Playful City USA.
